The construction of the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh represents a significant milestone in the diplomatic relationship between Turkey and Bangladesh. This state-of-the-art compound features three main structures: the Chancellery Building, the Official Residence, and the Residential Building. The compound boasts a total built area of over 6000 square meters and was constructed using both Turkish and local laborers.
The construction of the buildings features a reinforced concrete frame with three to four stories and is equipped with all the necessary mechanical, plumbing, electrical, telecommunications, data, and technical security infrastructure and systems. The architectural design of the buildings is a testament to the highest standards of construction, with exterior finishes consisting of mechanically suspended solid bricks, cement-mortared facing bricks, and marble facing. Some of the interior walls were designed with movable partitions and glass partitions, and floor finishes included hardwood, ceramic, marble, and mosaic. The interior wall finishes were executed with a combination of satin and normal paint, wall ceramics, and wall finishing with perforated steel sheets. The buildings are equipped with aluminum windows and wooden doors.
To ensure the security and protection of the compound, a cast-in-place concrete perimeter security wall was constructed along with entrance gates and a reinforced concrete guard booth structure. Due to the ground conditions, the buildings and perimeter wall were constructed on piled spread footing, with more than 700 piles executed with depths ranging from 13 to 20 meters and diameters ranging from 600mm to 800mm. The site is also equipped with complete landscape-hardscape works, including access roads and sidewalks with pressed brick finishes, open spaces with marble finishes, decorative pools, garden areas, fencing, and exterior lighting. The construction of the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh represents a truly impressive achievement in the field of diplomatic construction.
