Water Treatment System Upgrade, Kathmandu, Nepal

Project Scope

Epik International's project scope is to provide comprehensive engineering, material, and labor services to remove the existing water treatment system and install a new, state-of-the-art potable and domestic water treatment equipment plant for the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. The project will take place across two compounds: the Singh House Compound and the Phora Durbar Compound.

The first part of our project will include a redesign of the existing water treatment systems located on the Singh House Compound. Poor water quality due to arsenic contamination is a major issue affecting drinking water supply systems that use groundwater, particularly in the plain regions of the country. Our project will ensure that the U.S. Embassy can continue to provide high-quality water for domestic and potable use by upgrading the water treatment system to meet the required standards. The new water treatment system will be designed, constructed, shipped, installed, and commissioned by our team, and will include features such as multi-stage filtration, advanced oxidation, and ultraviolet disinfection. These upgrades will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the water treatment process, providing safe and high-quality drinking water to the U.S. Embassy personnel and the local community.

In addition to the water treatment system upgrade, our project will also include the construction of a chemical storage shed at the Phora Durbar Compound. The shed will be designed to store the remainder of the one-year chemical supply that cannot be contained at the Singh House Compound. This will provide secure storage for the chemicals used in the water treatment process, ensuring that they are stored safely.

Our project is particularly critical given the issue of poor water quality due to arsenic contamination in Nepal's groundwater, which poses significant risks to drinking water supply systems, particularly in the plain regions of the country. By upgrading the water treatment system and improving chemical storage, our project will play a vital role in mitigating these risks and managing environmental health in Nepal. We are committed to delivering a high-quality water treatment system that meets the specific needs of the U.S. Embassy and the local community, ensuring safe and high-quality drinking water for years to come.
